Project name:

eduroam@MQ (2006-2007)

Overview: Eduroam is an initiative to provide free and secure wireless access to staff and researchers when moving between institutions nationally as well as internationally using a single login at their local institution. There are around 30 institutions nationally comprising of 12000 access points, as well as over 450 institutions overseas, where eduroam users can get free internet access to. MELCOE was one of the early participants in the eduroam project in Australia. The team set up the eduroam authentication server for Macquarie University, and configured the access points to support eduroam network. They also developed the documentations to help administrators in Australia in setting up an eduroam server at their institutions, as well as instructions for end users on how to access the eduroam network.
